ZOMBIE WALK / Food Pantry Drive

[zombie walk noun. an organized public gathering of two or more people who dress up in zombie costumes and walk from one location to another in a zombie-like manner; organizations often use zombie walks to raise awareness for community service events i.e. food drives and blood drives]

 

Grand View College Campus Ministry and Alpha Psi Omega are hosting a campus-wide zombie walk in conjunction with Hunger Awareness Week to raise food for the DMARC Emergency Food Pantry.  Students, faculty, and staff are invited to participate as either a zombie food collector or a food donor.

 

Schedule:

6 p.m. – 7 p.m.         Zombie participants will meet in the Viking Theater at the Student Center for registration and make-up.  Each Zombie participant MUST bring 1 food pantry item, 1 plastic bag, and his or her own zombie costume/clothes.  Alpha Psi Omega will provide make-up. (Disclaimer: bacteria can be spread through sharing make-up)

 

7 p.m. – 8 p.m.         The zombies will walk by all the student-housing buildings and the length of Grandview Ave.  Those who wish to donate food can stop a zombie on the sidewalk and place the donation in the plastic bag that the zombie will be carrying.

 

8 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.    The zombie walkers will drop off all the donated food at Luther Memorial Church (across from the Humphrey Center).  At this time refreshments will be served.

(NO glass containers)

Canned fruit

Canned meals (chili, stew, Chef Boyardee, etc.)

Canned soups

Canned vegetables/beans (15 oz.)

Cereal

Fruit/Vegetable juice

Instant potatoes

Macaroni and cheese dinners

Peanut butter

Rice (1 lb.)

Saltines

Infant formula
